Actor, comedian and producer Wendi McLendon-Covey (MC-LEN-DEN CUH-VEE) has been captivating audiences throughout her career.
She recently concluded an impressive 10-season run starring on ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” a milestone marked by two Critic’s Choice nominations. Notably, at the time of its conclusion, “The Goldbergs” stood as the longest-running network comedy currently on-air. Wendi has now transitioned on to her next series endeavor: “St. Denis Medical”, a new workplace comedy on NBC and Peacock which earned a Critic’s Choice nomination in the Best Comedy Series category.
In March 2025, Wendi launched Strong Beach Productions as Co-Founder and President with her longtime manager Gladys Gonzalez who stands as Co-Founder and Vice President, Development and Production. The full-service company will look to take film and TV projects from conception through to delivery.
Wendi is a veteran of over forty movies, including studio films such as “Bridesmaids,” “What Men Want, and “Blended,” as well as independent and festival films such as “Hello, My Name is Doris,” “Blush,” and “Paint.” True comedy fans praise Wendi for her role as ‘Deputy Clementine Johnson’ in the cult classic “Reno 911,” a mockumentary about law enforcement. Her other television work includes appearances on hits such as “Modern Family,” “Rules of Engagement,” “The Office,” and Netflix’s “Unstable.” Wendi also hosted HGTV’s TV special “Frozen in Design,” streaming on MAX. She has emerged in recent years as a rising star in the animation field as well. She voices Disney’s “Big City Greens” the series and the film “Big City Greens: The Movie Spacecation”. She also voiced ‘Gale’ in Disney Pixar’s Oscar-nominated film “Elemental” and ‘Chief Patsy Stamos’ on “Grimsburg” on FOX. Her other animation credits include “Bob’s Burgers,” “M.O.D.O.K.,” and “Solar Opposites.”
Wendi got her start at the world-famous Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, where she excelled at both improv and sketch comedy. Wendi is deeply dedicated to making a positive impact through her philanthropic efforts. As a longtime supporter of the Long Beach Women’s Shelter, PETA and Foster Nation, she consistently advocates for these meaningful causes.
She currently resides in Long Beach with her husband of almost three decades, and rescue cats.
